A vaccine works by stimulating a protective immune response in your pet, preparing them to fight infections in the future, or preventing disease altogether.

Experts agree that although some formerly common diseases are now obsolete, there are still many disease-causing agents present in the environment that could harm your pet and spread to others.

Core vaccines for dogs include :

✔ Canine parvovirus

✔ Distemper

✔ Canine hepatitis

✔ Rabies.

Dogs may also receive other non-core vaccines based on exposure risk, which include vaccines against Bordetella bronchiseptica, Borrelia burgdorferi, and Leptospira bacteria.

Core vaccines for cats include :

✔ Panleukopenia (feline distemper)

✔ Feline calicivirus

✔ Feline herpesvirus type I (rhinotracheitis)

✔ Rabies

And unlike dogs, other non-core vaccines are given depending on the cat’s lifestyle, which often varies more than dogs. These vaccines include protection against feline leukemia virus, Bordetella, Chlamydophila felis, and feline immunodeficiency virus.
